Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the L, B, C and G permits?

L: short-term residence, usually less than a year. B: residence permit, 5 years for EU/EFTA citizens, renewed every year for others. C: settlement permit, with no time limit. G: cross-border commuter permit, with your home in a neighbouring country.

When can you get the C permit?

After 10 years of residence as a general rule, after 5 years for citizens of the EU-15, EFTA, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, or after 5 years for everyone in the case of successful integration with B1 spoken level.

How much does a residence permit cost?

Official fees range from around CHF 65 to 137 depending on the permit and nationality. Our fees come on top: from CHF 190 for a renewal.

Are you lawyers?

No. ABC Office is an administrative and translation service. If your application is refused or you wish to appeal, we refer you to a partner lawyer.

Is the file check deducted?

Yes, the CHF 90 is deducted from your package if you continue with us.
