Thanks to the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons, you are entitled to a permit if you work, set up your own business or have sufficient funds.
- Employees
- 5-year B permit (contract of one year or more), L permit for 3 to 12 months
- Looking for work
- 3 months without a permit, then a short-term permit for up to a year with sufficient funds
- C permit
- After 5 years for the EU-15 and EFTA, 10 years for other EU countries
- Croatia
- No quotas in 2026; the transitional period ends on 31 December 2026
